Ruby-crowned Kinglet by Fiona Mulvey, Draw a Bird Day 2023

Draw a Bird Day
Wednesday, April 8, 2026
3:00-6:00 PM
FREE

Spread the Word and Draw a Bird!

Come celebrate a day, not about artistic talent or skill, but rather enjoying birds and making people smile. Watch the birds at the feeder, learn to identify some species, receive drawing tips and tricks from environmental educators and other participants, and enjoy taking the time to simply draw. All necessary art materials and light refreshments will be provided. This is a drop-in event for all ages. Stay for 10 minutes or the full 3 hours. Pre-registration is highly encouraged to ensure we have enough space and refreshments, but walk-ins are also welcome.

This event is free, no purchase necessary. Like all visits to the Arboretum, donations are greatly appreciated. Donations of any size can be made online or at the door.

This event is part of our 2025-2026 birding series leading up to our first ever Bird-a-thon, Beak Week! New bird-related lectures and programs are happening every month. Click through our upcoming events to learn more. Click here to learn more about Beak Week!

Spring Family Campout
Friday-Saturday, April 25th-26th
6PM – 9AM

Before the hot summer sun hits, join us at the Arboretum for an adventurous night in the forest! Pack your tent, sleeping bags, and positive attitudes. Then head on over to CHA for an evening of games, crafts, animal presentations, a home-cooked meal, and guided night hike. Pitch a tent in the forest and enjoy a relaxing night under the stars.

Whether you are an avid camper or looking to try something new, we invite you to join! Begin the night by finding your campsite and pitching your tent. Then enjoy a hearty home-cooked meal followed by games and crafts, but don’t forget to leave room for s’mores! End the night by learning about some of our NJ native wildlife and join one of our environmental educators on a guided night hike through the forest.

When registering, you have the opportunity to mention any allergies or dietary restrictions. We will do our best to accommodate, but cannot promise that we will meet every individuals needs.
