Birding 201: Birding by Ear

March 7 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
$5 – $8

Saturday, March 7th, 2026
1:30-3:00 PM

More often than not, birds are heard before they are seen, that is, if you are able to see them at all!

Some birds wake up up at the crack of dawn; have you ever wondered who is singing outside your window? Some bird songs are beautiful to the ear while others just sound loud and angry; do you know which is which? Whether you attended Birding 101 or not, we invite you to join CHA staff at this Birding by Ear program designed to improve your bird identification skills by using your sense of hearing, rather than sight. By learning mnemonics and practicing without binoculars, you can actually add dimension to your birding skills. Learn various NJ bird songs and practice identifying them out in the field with CHA staff and lifelong birders.

This event is recommended for people 16 years of age and above. No birding experience is necessary.
