We have nine weeks of summer camp plus multiple mini camps throughout the year!

 


Spring Mini Camp
April 3rd – 7th

Are you in need of a stay-cation during spring break? Come explore the blossoming Arboretum grounds during a day or week of camp. Children will experience springtime outdoors while learning about the living things that call the forest home. Please bring a snack, lunch, and dress campers for the outdoors.  Pre-registration, health forms, and membership are required.  Register per day or for the whole week.

Turtle Tots: 4 year olds – Kindergarteners 
9am – 12pm
$70 per day or $325 for the week (SOLD OUT)

Explorers: 1st and 2nd graders
9am-3pm
$90 per day or $425 for the week

Summer Mini Camps
June 12th-16th & June 19th-23rd

Summer Camp is almost here! Get ready for the season with the CHA as we experience the woodlands through songs, games, and exploration! This camp is is exclusively for our Turtle Tots (4 years old-kindergarten).  Pre-registration online, health forms, and membership are required. Attend for just one day or for the whole week.

Summer Camp
June – August 2023

Join us for adventures at a camp that is close to nature and close to home. We have 9 weeks available for Turtle Tots, 7 weeks for Explorers, and 2 weeks for Trailblazers. Pre-registration, health forms, and membership are required. Registration begins on February 1st, 2023 at 6AM.

Turtle Tots

Habitats Plants Insects
What makes a good habitat? Learn all about different habitats around the world and what makes them the perfect place for various plants and animals to live. Flowers, leaves, and seeds, oh my! Take a look into the life cycle of a plant and explore trees, wildflowers, and the various plants we eat. Dive into the world of insects. Get outside and learn about their homes, body parts, and life cycles. Even more, meet live insects like bees, butterflies, and beetles.

Brilliant Birds So You Want to Work at an Arboretum Animal Jobs
“Soar” through the arboretum as you study birds and what makes them unique. Learn about their eggs, nest building, feathers, and specific adaptations that allow them to survive and thrive in the wild. Arboretums don’t run themselves! Learn what it takes to be a botanist, entomologist, forester, or a variety of other jobs that help keep natural lands not only beautiful, but healthy as well. The animals are hard at work, so come on down to the arboretum to see just what they’re up to. Discover how ecosystems stay balanced with builders and clean up crews, planters and pollinators.

Water Week Art in Nature Nature Detectives
Water is all around us, but where does it come from, and where does it go? Interact with water play, the water cycle, and experience a summer snow day during water week! Explore lines, patterns, symmetry, colors, and shapes that occur naturally in our world. Create works of art with, in, and inspired by nature. Get your magnifying glass and notepad ready, because it’s sleuthing time! Inspect your surroundings and determine what wildlife has been hanging around. Learn about nature’s most wanted and track them down using your five senses!

Enchanted Forests Birds 5 Senses
“Did you know that an enchanted forest is a place of transformation?”- Olaf (Frozen 2) This week we are going to be looking at different creatures and how they transform through the process of metamorphosis. Have you ever wondered who your backyard birds are? How can we care for these magnificent winged wild animals? Learn how to identify different birds and what to do if you come across a bird that may need your help. Smell, see, touch, hear, and taste this summer as we use our five senses to make our way around the Arboretum. We’ll learn the unique ways animals use their senses and why we too depend on them every day.

Spineless Creatures Rocks Water
What makes invertebrates so amazing? Find out as we explore the world of insects, and discover how these “creepy crawlies” are more helpful than harmful. Have you ever wondered how rocks are formed? How do mountains get so tall? Come learn about the different rock types, how those rocks got here, and what kinds of rocks are found in your backyard. What is the health status of our local streams, ponds, and rivers? How can we help protect these bodies of water? How can invertebrates help us understand the overall health of our waterways?

 

August 7-11th
Survival
If you were lost in the woods, how would you survive? Along with a naturalist-educator, campers will learn basic skills including shelter building, map and compass orienteering, and first aid.

Parent/Guardian Handbook

Please read through our Parent/Guardian handbook for useful information about Arboretum program rules and procedures. All program participants need to sign and return the agreement (found on the last page) two weeks before the start of a camp and/or Arboretum program. Cancellation Policy

Registrations are accepted in the order in which they are received. All cancellation requests must be made in writing.  In order to obtain a refund, cancellations must be made at least 30 days prior to the start of camp. Any cancellations made after the 30 days will only receive a refund if we are able to fill the spot. CHA has the right to cancel any program and CHA will refund the full amount that was paid.
